Mineral nutrition in penaeid shrimp

چکیده
Abstract This review summarises the current knowledge of mineral nutrition for penaeid shrimp. It investigates how aquatic environment and lifecycle shrimp affect requirements role that minerals play in health. Methods supplying via either water or to feed, novel ways supplementing within are discussed. The individual summarised with recommendations minimum levels dietary inclusion semi‐intensive intensive commercial culture presented where data permits. Estimates requirement remain broad most main production species ( Penaeus vannamei , monodon japonicus ), some essential remaining unstudied (Table 2 Section 5.10). Mineral will become more important as intensification diversification systems provide new challenges aquaculture.

Penaeid shrimp broodstock nutrition: an updated review on research and development
This paper reviews the current knowledge on shrimp broodstock nutrition with special reference to developments during the last decade. Biochemical studies and diet studies are discussed with the aim of identifying the nutrients that are important to sustain optimal shrimp maturation, reproduction and offspring quality. Additionally, an overview is given of the efforts to reveal the nature of ma...
متن کاملToxicity of aflatoxin B1 to penaeid shrimp.
Single intramuscular injections of aflatoxin B1 into the tail muscle of Penaeus stylirostris produced 24- and 96-h median lethal doses of 100.5 (78.3 to 129.0) and 49.5 (29.8 to 82.3) mg/kg, respectively. A toxicity curve showed no threshold at the levels tested. The mortality response in a feeding study with P. vannamei was not dose dependent, but tissue and organ damage were similar to that s...
متن کاملProphenoloxidase has a role in innate immunity in penaeid shrimp
Melanization, which is brought about by the activation of the prophenoloxidase (proPO) cascade, plays an essential role in the invertebrate immune response. It is triggered by minute amounts of microbial cell wall components leading to the activation of the enzyme proPO, which converts phenols into quinones and eventually resulting to the formation of melanin. Recent studies however, revealed t...
متن کاملIs recruitment related to spawning stock in penaeid shrimp fisheries?
The relationship between spawning stock and recruitment in penaeid shrimp fisheries has been questioned because they exhibit unique characteristics with respect to population dynamics and fisheries. This study used meta-analyses to test the null hypothesis that recruitment is a series of random, independent events based on the penaeid shrimp stocks found in published sources. Both the derivativ...
متن کاملWhite Spot Viral Disease in Penaeid Shrimp – A Review
The global aquaculture of penaeid shrimp has grown rapidly during the past two decades. In 1998, world shrimp farmers produced an estimated 737 200 t of whole shrimp (this includes 530 200 t from the eastern hemisphere and 207 000t from the western hemisphere), a record 12% increase from the 660 200 t produced in 1997 (Rosenberry 1998, 1999). The shrimp farming sector suffered a serious setback...
